Synchronization between Dalux and Autodesk Construction Cloud
30th October 2025
Digitalization in construction is no longer a choice — it’s a necessity.
At TBI Hazenberg, Digitalization Manager Tommy van Beem and his team focus on optimizing workflows by integrating proven methods with new technologies. His background in BIM and work preparation provides the flexibility and persistence needed to make innovation truly happen.

Client challenge
For a large strategic renovation project, TBI Hazenberg / Nico de Bont collaborates within a major construction consortium alongside several other parties. Within this consortium, both Dalux and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) are used as Document Management Systems (DMS).
To keep all systems up to date, one full-time employee was assigned to manually synchronize data between the different DMS platforms. Given the project’s strategic importance, the team even considered appointing a second person to ensure data continuity.
This manual process was not only time-consuming and expensive but also prone to human error — and each synchronization cycle took far too long to complete.
Our solution
In close cooperation with TBI Hazenberg / Nico de Bont, Horizon Internet Technologies developed a model in which data between the DMS platforms is fully automated and synchronized daily.
Since the project already used the Workato ETL platform, Horizon was asked to use it as the foundation for this solution.
To make the connection possible, Horizon built a custom connector within Workato to enable data exchange between Dalux and ACC.
This connector is now owned by TBI and can be reused across other projects in the organization.
A unique feature of this solution is that the folder structures of both DMS platforms are not identical, yet users can easily define — through a simple menu interface — which data should flow from where to where. The corresponding metadata is also transferred automatically.
Result
With this solution, employees of TBI Hazenberg / Nico de Bont can now initiate synchronization between the DMS platforms at any time, with just a few simple actions.
“The collaboration with Horizon Internet Technologies to fully automate this synchronization went extremely well,” says Tommy van Beem.
“The speed with which they built the solution—partly leveraging the Workato platform—allowed us to move quickly to implementation. It saves us a tremendous amount of money, and ensures that everyone in the project and on-site works with accurate and reliable data. Together with Horizon, we’re now exploring ways to make the process even simpler.”

What is a DMS System?
A Document Management System (DMS) is software that allows all project documents — such as drawings, contracts, reports, and photos — to be centrally stored, managed, and shared.
In construction, a DMS is crucial because multiple stakeholders — such as contractors, architects, and consultants — must always work with the most up-to-date information.
A good DMS ensures structure, version control, and accessibility.
However, when multiple systems are used side by side, the challenge is keeping all data synchronized between them.
